Trip Report: Ocampo Expeditions - A Journey Through Colombia’s Birding Paradise

We’ve just completed a spectacular 16-day adventure from August 11 to August 26, guiding a wonderful German couple passionate about birds, photography, and nature through Colombia’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Coffee Region Highlights

Our journey began in the Coffee Region, where we explored Reserva Natural Rio Blanco and Hacienda El Bosque. Here, we encountered rare and endemic bird species, immersing ourselves in the unique biodiversity of the area. We enjoyed memorable birdwatching experiences at Glamping Color de mi Revés and took a relaxing break at Termales del Ruiz.

Valle del Cauca Encounters

Next, we moved to the lush Valle del Cauca, where vibrant hummingbirds awaited us at Finca La Florida and Finca Alejandría. Our time here also included unforgettable moments at Osprey Ecolodge and Hacienda El Diamante, where the diversity of birdlife and stunning landscapes made each day a new adventure.

Exploring Santa Marta’s Sierra Nevada

Our journey concluded in Santa Marta, where our guide, Fidel, led us through the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This region, rich with endemic species and dramatic landscapes, provided breathtaking birding opportunities and capped off our journey with its unparalleled natural beauty.

This tour was filled with discovery and awe, highlighting the magic of Colombian birding. Ready for your next adventure? Join us at Ocampo Expeditions!
