At Ocampo Expeditions, we are delighted to share the highlights of our recent 6-day birdwatching tour in Colombia’s iconic Coffee Region, held from October 14 to 19, 2024. This tour was especially memorable as we had the pleasure of welcoming back distinguished clients on their second visit with us.
Exploring Coffee Region’s Natural Wonders
During this trip, we explored remarkable natural destinations, including the Río Blanco Natural Reserve, Hacienda El Bosque, Termales del Ruiz, and the areas around Laguna Negra and Brisas. Each of these spots offered a unique opportunity to observe the vibrant avian life that calls the Coffee Region home.
Our clients enjoyed sightings of several emblematic species, such as the Buffy Helmetcrest (Oxypogon stuebelii), the Ocellated Tapaculo (Acropternis orthonyx), the Scarlet-bellied Mountain Tanager (Anisognathus igniventris), and the Crescent-faced Antpitta (Grallaricula lineifrons). Each encounter, set against the region’s stunning landscapes, provided exceptional opportunities for birdwatching and photography.
Cultural and Culinary Immersion
Complementing this immersive nature experience, our clients enjoyed the authentic culture and gastronomy of the Coffee Region. We arranged accommodations that balanced comfort with proximity to nature. The itinerary included stays at Hotel Quo Quality in Manizales, charming cabins at Hacienda El Bosque, exclusive rooms at Termales del Ruiz Hotel, and the Movich Hotel in Pereira, ensuring a superior level of comfort and service.
Looking Ahead to New Adventures
This tour was an extraordinary experience for both our clients and the Ocampo Expeditions team. We are already discussing their next adventure, which promises to bring even more exceptional moments in the natural richness of Colombia.
